Diseases that can be cured by stem cells
With the advancement in technology, so has the medical field taken major steps in the invention and in the war against diseases. Stem cells can now be used to cure some diseases. Although it is still under research, scientists believe that stem cells can be used to cure a wide range of diseases such as diabetes. Below is a list of diseases curable by stem cells:
Leukaemias- Leukemia is a type of cancer that affects the blood defense system or the white blood cells. Stem cells have been used in the cure of this disease and it is probably one of the successful cases so far. Some of these diseases include acute and chronic leukaemia. Myelodysplastic is another type of leukemia that can be cured using the stem cells.
Lymphomas- Lymphomas is another type of cancer that affects the leukocytes found in the blood and in the lymph vessels. Some of the diseases in this category include Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and also the Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Bone Marrow Cancers- Cancers of the bone marrows is another case that can be cured by the use of stem cells. Some of these cancers include; Multiple Myeloma, Plasma cell leukemia and also the Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia.
